چکیده

BackgroundA small number of studies have confirmed the presence oxidative damage in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Nevertheless, it is unknown if there a relationship circulating markers stress muscle injury.ObjectiveWe evaluated and anti-oxidant are associated DMD.MethodsThis cross-sectional study included 24 DMD classified ambulatory non-ambulatory. Markers (creatine kinase [CK]), (malondialdehyde [MDA], 8-isoprostane), function (Thiol mRNA NRF2 NF-κB) nitric oxide (NO) were quantified circulation.ResultsTotal NO, MDA, 8-isoprostane concentrations significantly (p < 0.05) higher, thiol concentration was lower non-ambulatory than patients. A significant correlation between injury (evaluated by Vignos scale) CK (r = −0.382), NO 0.444), MDA 0.503), 8-isoprostanes 0.435) −0.430) observed. Conclusion: These findings suggest that high low DMD. Total plasma increase, but marker decreases boys The this these could be considered as goods indicators longitudinal to evaluate during progression. Additionally, add new information about pathophysiology

P164: Adeno-Associated Viral Vectors in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (BMD) is an inherited X-link disease. The incidence of this muscle-wasting disease is 1:5000 male live births. Mutation in the gene coding for dystrophin is the main cause of BMD. Most cases of this disease succumb to respiratory and cardiac failure in 3rd to 4th decades. The slow progression of BMD and recent achievement of gene therapies make it as an appropriate c...

Circulating Muscle-specific miRNAs in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Patients

Noninvasive biomarkers with diagnostic value and prognostic applications have long been desired to replace muscle biopsy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) patients. Growing evidence indicates that circulating microRNAs are biomarkers to assess pathophysiological status. Here, we show that the serum levels of six muscle-specific miRNAs (miR-1/206/133/499/208a/208b, also known as myomiRs) wer...

Detection of the Duplication in Exons 56-63 of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Patients with MLPA

Background Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a deadly X-linked recessive disorder. This genetic disorder affects 1 among 3,500-5,000 males in the world. The majority of the patients are male, due to the type of inheritance. It affects most of the skeletal, the respiratory, and cardiac muscles, causing these vital organs to contract and eventually mortality.<br...

Scoliosis in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

espite recent research developments, Duchenne muscular dystrophy remains a fatal neuromuscular disease, affecting two to three boys in 10,000. It is an inherited X-linked recessive condition caused by a frameshift mutation in the dystrophin gene at the Xp21.2 locus of the X chromosome. Dystrophin is a large cell-membrane protein involved in calcium transport in the muscle cell. Boys with Duchen...

Fast muscle fibers are preferentially affected in Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

We show that Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) selectively affects a subset of skeletal muscle fibers specialized for fast contraction. Muscle fiber types were characterized immunohistochemically with monoclonal antibodies that distinguish isoforms of fetal and adult-fast or adult-slow myosin heavy chain present in the same fiber. Fetal myosin expression increased with patient age and was not d...
